Abstract
Transparent Optical Networks (TONs), due to their transparency, are vulnerable to various physical-layer impairments. High-powered optical crosstalk is among the most harmful due to its propagation characteristic. In this paper, we propose a dedicated-path protection (DPPPC) algorithm for preventing such impairment. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively prevent such impairment by means of backup paths and careful wavelength assignment for lightpaths.
