Abstract
In LTE co-channel heterogeneous network, the deployment of picos within macro-cell coverage is a cost-effective way to increase system capacity and keep up with the increasing demand for data capacity. Cell Range Extension (CRE) is considered as an effective scheme to make more users to associate with picos, to archive more off-load benefit from macro and increase the whole performance of the heterogeneous network. However every coin has two sides. When CRE is applied, it causes the severe co-channel interference between macro and pico cells, especially for system information, e.g. Master Information Block (MIB) and result in the user detection issue of system information. In this paper, we simulate and analyze the co-channel interference characteristics under CRE, furthermore propose the dominant interference cancellation scheme to improve the performance of MIB detection. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can fulfill the target performance of MIB detection under 9 dB CRE.
