Abstract
How do you effectively use interactive technologies to involve spectators in a live performance without distracting from the atmosphere or storyline? We have been producing theatrical performances using computer graphics (CG) and interactive techniques. Our goal has been to use information technologies such as CG, augmented reality (AR), and interactive techniques in live stage performances. We sought to use interactive technology to involve spectators in a production employing projected screen imagery of CG characters in adaptations of Akutagawa Ryunosuke A Spider\´s Thread. This paper introduces the technology employed and resulting performance, focusing on one climactic scene of spectator involvement in a "lottery," as well as review of spectators\´ post-performance questionnaires.
