Abstract
Disturbed eating habits of young people have become a problem, and there is a concern that eating habits in university students are deteriorating. We considered that the substantial change in living environment of first-year university students might account for significant changes in their eating habits. The aim of this study was to clarify the reason behind the deteriorating eating habits of university students. We conducted a survey on the university living environment and awareness of balanced nutrition during the first and second school terms, when the largest changes in living environment most likely occur. Our results suggest that a possible major factor behind the eating habits of university students is having an awareness of balanced nutrition.
