Abstract
A Compact multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with a simple decoupling method is presented. For the design of MIMO antennas, the mutual coupling between the antenna elements is the mainly due to the induced ground currents, which caused by the excited port flow to the no-excited port. The decupling method used by the proposed MIMO antenna is to produces additional current paths to hold back the induced ground currents. Moreover, the side effect of the decoupling method on the input impedance matching is slight. Therefore, a compact MIMO antenna with VSWR ≤ 2, isolation ≥ 20 dB, and frequency ranged from 2.40 to 3.73 GHz is achieved. Results, including S-parameters, radiation pattern, mean effective gain (MEG), and signal correlation validate that a compact wideband MIMO antenna with good diversity performance is obtained.
