Abstract
This contribution describes emerging sensor concepts for soil moisture measurements, which are based on microwave measurements. The presented sensor concepts allow a permittivity measurement of the investigated soil what yields a precise knowledge of its water content. The three sensors, one operating in the time domain and two operating in the frequency domain, are optimized for different intended applications. Thus, each sensor offers specific advantages due to its functional principle.
