  • Abstract
High precision positioning circuits are most likely to be affected adversely by interference as the receivers used in precision GPS have a wider bandwidth (± 10MHz as opposed to ± 1MHz), and filtering is more difficult. Previous work [1-4] developed highly integrated receivers, but the receivers cannot process the higher bandwidths required for precision positioning because of their narrowband operation. In this work we present a fully-integrated High and Low Band GPS/GLONASS/Galileo/Compass receiver with high dynamic range 12 bit analog to digital converters (ADC) implemented in 0.18-μm SiGe BiCMOS technology. The receiver is fully integrated and includes 12-bit ADC´s to provide over 60 dB of instantaneous dynamic range. We demonstrate multi-channel receiver integration compatible with multi-antenna GPS systems. In addition, we review future architectures suitable for precision, high dynamic range, and beam steerable receiver systems.
