Abstract :
A novel Mobius-coupled printed resonator oscillators is developed in response to replacing expensive DRO (Dielectric Resonator Oscillator) for the application of synthesized signal sources in RADAR and modern microwave communication systems. One of the problems related to the Dielectric Resonator (DR) is miniaturization at lower microwave frequencies and also fabrication in integrated circuit (IC) form due to 3-Dimensional structure. Shrinking the size of planar resonators employing Mobius coupling mechanism has led to tiny (0.3 × 0.3 inches) broadband (2-8 GHz) tunable oscillators for inexpensive low phase noise signal source applications. For the validation, 2-8 GHz synthesizer was built, exhibit phase noise - 120dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset from the carrier, settling time ~ 1 millisecond operating DC bias : 5V and 200 mA.
