Abstract
A novel space vector pulse width modulation strategy is proposed to reduce the switching frequencies of transistors in high-power inverters. The inverter is modeled as a switched linear system such that the controllability properties of the inverter can be investigated. After that, the 3-operation modes modulation strategy based on the m-modes controllability is proposed. With the 3-operation modes modulation technique, switching frequencies of the transistors can be reduced by one-third, therefore, the switching losses of the system can be reduced and the overall efficiency of the system can be improved. Finally, the simulation as well as experimental results verified the correctness of the approach.
