  • Abstract
This research aims to identify factors which influence an organisation\´s capability to develop mobile compatible websites and whether this capability translates into the actual production of quality mobile websites. Two novel research instruments were developed: an online questionnaire to measure organisational capability based on a number of relevant technical, organisational and environmental factors and a "mobile website compatibility measurement" instrument to rate the capability of respondent organisations\´ mobile websites. The research findings indicate that internal technology, slack resources and business process flexibility explain 82% of an organisation\´s perceived capability to develop mobile websites. Additionally, this perceived organisational capability correlated strongly with the actual quality of those organisations\´ mobile websites.
