Abstract
Open innovation alliances(OIAs) seek to enlarge overall market demand through value co-creation rather than market share. The resource based view, which mainly focus on, might be inappropriate to explain value co-creation in the cases of OIAs involving non-rivals and rivals. Therefore, this paper introduces a social network perspective to the study of value co-creation in open innovation alliances. It extends prior research, which identify the sources of value co-creation in an OIA and develop the value model for OIAs, as well as analyse implication of new paradigm of open innovation alliances. Research of this paper can serve as a well basis on which the fair allocation mechanism of an OIA.
