  • Abstract
    Distance education with e-learning comprises all forms of electronically supported learning and teaching resources, and is essentially the computer and network-enabled transfer of skills and knowledge. This paper introduces a multimedia education resource management method used in e-learning support platform. In the proposed method, the education resources are divided into small unit called coarse grain resource according to the content and meanings of the resources, which is much complex and bigger than a single multimedia material such as text, graphics, image, audio, video, etc. The coarse grain resource composes of multiple media materials and always corresponds to an integrated and specialized knowledge unit. By this way, the education resources could be more easily and effectively managed, maintained and shared; and the learning support platform could provide more better services and satisfy various needed of different users.
