Abstract :
In this paper, to resolve linkage restrictions and to provide extended adaptability under various UAV application challenges, unique features oriented from the advanced IT and communication technology are tightly integrated in the flight control system and auxiliary avionics development for the rotary type UAV autopilot system. First, this work considers a commercial cellular network and IP backbone networks for achieving the data linkage between FCS and GCS. Second, we suggest a central application entity for managing flight control data and various mission data between network terminal nodes. Additionally, this work includes a user-friendly interface for the UAV command and control, as well as simple graphical demonstration of the flight and mission information. The proposed system is applied to the target vehicle of a small sized, electrically powered, rotary UAV system.
