Abstract :
This paper describes estimation of rough surface parameters by using finite length data samples measured with a finite sampling interval, and reveals statistical behavior of estimated parameters when the data record length and the sampling interval are changed. Using the results that are expressed in analytical forms, correction formulae for improving accuracy of the estimated parameters are derived. The correction formulae can reduce the error arising from finiteness of the data record length and can provide more accurate results.
