Abstract
Ground penetrating radar (GPR) allows visualizing the underground without destroying from environment. However, the received signal acquired by a GPR contains such noises as direct waves and reflected waves from the ground surface. Therefore, it is necessary to remove the noises in order to recognize the waves reflected from deeper underground-buried pipes. Also, it is important for GPR users to make it easier by putting marks on a two-dimensional digital map showing the waveforms reflected from the buried pipes to recognize and emphasize the reflected waves. We propose a denoising system that does not depend on an experienced GPR user. Furthermore, we propose a system for detecting reflected waveforms from buried pipes by using the wavelet transform in real applications.
