Abstract
Characteristic of L-band ocean normalized radar cross section (NRCS) was statistically investigated using huge amounts of the Phased-Array L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR) measurements and collocated wind data. The derived general results including an L-band geophysical model function (GMF) and polarization dependence on surface winds are introduced focusing on comparisons with those of other bands (frequencies). Some expectations which might be achieved by the coming PALSAR-2 are also addressed.
