  • Abstract
    Silicon photonic circuits guide light inside silicon waveguides on a silicon substrate. Proponents of silicon photonics usually focus on high-volume, low-cost applications, such as short-reach interconnects, because of silicon´s large-scale manufacturability. However, silicon photonics is even better suited for high-end telecommunications applications such as advanced modulation formats, because of its high index contrast and high element yield. This talk focuses on advanced modulation format transceivers using silicon photonics.
