Abstract :
This research proposes a Smart Home Governance System (SHGS) for hazard prevention in a densely populated power challenged environment. We refer this solution as Electronic Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (E-MART), which leverages on wireless sensor monitoring of power challenged environments for hazardous gas emissions from fuel generator alternative power supply. In this regard, Wireless Sensor Nodes (WSN) will be used to monitor the emission of unwanted gaseous substance such as Carbon Monoxide within clustered human habitat. In the proposed prototype, the system architecture and design flowcharts will be synthesized into its hardware and software component granularities while articulating on a test validation framework for the E-MART SHGS. In the final analysis, the validation approach will use a colorless, odorless, tasteless but poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas with a life animal for E-MART validation. Consequently, this research seeks to proffer a lasting solution to recurring CO poison incidents in densely clustered power challenged environments especially in Nigeria. The methodology used is encapsulated in the body of the work.
