Abstract :
This paper proposes the TE-shaped monopole antenna with semicircle etchings on the ground plane for Ultra-wideband (UWB) applications of IEEE 802.15.3a standard with the frequency range between 3.1 to 10.6 GHz. The antenna structure was adjusted using the semicircle etching technique at both sides of the ground plane along with the I-shaped stubs. The antenna was fabricated on the FR-4 PCB with size (width × height) of 30 × 30 mm2, dielectric constant (εr) of 4.3 and substrate thickness (h) of 0.764. The study of the antenna properties and parameters were accomplished by simulations with the computer program for analyzing important characteristics and structural optimizations. From the simulations and measurements, the results were in good agreement, with the impedance bandwidth of 110.56% (3.09 - 10.73 GHz). Also, the time-domain measurements had been conducted with fairly good characteristics for pulse-radio transceiving applications in the UWB frequency range.
