Abstract
As the National Basketball Association (NBA) has become a sacred temple for basketball fans from all over the world, more and more attention has been focused on this league. Teams often tie with each other at clutch time, and the offense usually needs appropriate tactics to complete a winning shot. In this paper, such a process is modeled and analyzed by using a Petri net modeling method in order to obtain some effective suggestions at clutch time. Particularly, the PIPE software is used to draw the Petri net graph and complete the simulation. To our best knowledge, this is the first time that Petri nets are exploited to model and analyze a NBA game.
