Abstract :
This paper deals with problems caused by a traffic queue to traffic omitting the queue´s critical points. Such traffic should be sheltered from negative influence of the traffic queue by a proper traffic management. The management should consider both passive markings and a strong utilisation of ITS. Calculations presented in this paper are based on case studies from the city of Poznań, Poland. Analysed are situations when the traffic omitting the queue´s critical point crosses the queue, when the traffic interweaves with the queue, and when traffic joining the queue may block an unqueued priority lane.
