  • Abstract
In recent years, domestic and foreign scholars did many researches on AC charged icing, but few about DC charged icing and the performance of Leakage current. this paper makes an artificial simulation Icing experiment about FXBW-35/70 composite insulators in artificial climate laboratory. The DC experiment was conducted at plus-minus voltage of 0kV, 10kV, 20kV and 30kV separately. Relative analysis was made to explore the ice and leakage current characteristics of insulator. The influence of voltage polarity was analyzed and the mechanism was explained. The results show: DC electric field has a significant impact on Insulator Icing and Leakage current; The amplitude of leakage current with DC electric field is proportional to the test voltage, as the voltage level arises, the degree of roughness of the insulator sheds ice improve continuously; the greater the icicle bends towards insulator core rod, the smaller the ice density, while the change of ice weight has a trend of first increasing and then decreasing. we can get that the positive and negative polarity has a impact on the density of sleet on insulators. The influence of positive polarity and negative polarity is different, and the trend of weight changing on negative polarity is bigger.
