Abstract
Recently, an explosive increase in Internet and its applications have led to a sharply rising in the energy consumption and cooling cost of devices in Internet. A “green networking” idea has been proposed to solve the issues referring to a variety of economic and environmental consequences for recent years. Based on the well known OSPFv3 protocol, an Energy-saving QoS Routing Protocol (EQRP) for green Internet is proposed in this paper, including the designs and implementations of information sensing module routing module, sleeping management module and protocol monitor module. It is compared with OSPFv3 protocol from various aspects, such as power consumption convergence time, impacts from topological changes, resources utilization on CPU and storage and so on. Experiments have shown that EQRP is feasible and effective.
