Abstract
Evaporative coolers (ECs) are one kind wildly used cooling equipment in industry field, which drop gas temperature quickly with the endothermic process of water evaporation. Although evaporative cooling technology owns a long research and application history, its theoretical models are far from perfect. In this paper, the working process of an EC in Dry Dedusting System for converter coal gas is studied with Computational Fluid Dynamics method. Discrete Phase Model is adopted in the simulation and evaporative cooling model is applied to the discrete fluid droplet. With this numerical method, the spraying arrangement plan for the EC was optimized and great system performance and economic benefit was finally attained.
