Abstract :
In this paper, a solution is described that makes it possible for doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) to stay connected to the grid during grid faults. In order to protect the converter and improve low voltage ride through (LVRT) capability of DFIG during grid faults, super-capacitor (SC) with rotor crowbar protection is utilized. The controller model based on SC with crowbar and the corresponding control strategy are proposed. The simulation study of ten DFIGs connected to a infinite grid is carried out using DIgSILENT simulator. The simulation results are presented to validate the performance of the proposed system.
