Abstract :
With many Industrial and Commercial customers consuming the bulk of power in South Africa, it is essential to monitor their consumption especially during times when the power supply is severely constrained for various demand-side management applications. This paper describes the approach used to obtain near realtime customer consumption data and the subsequent real-time analysis method employed to detect changes in normal customer behaviour. A case study is done on a Flat Steel production customer.
