Abstract :
A new UWB tightly coupled antenna array is presented. In traditional antenna design, the distance between array elements is considered carefully to reduce mutual coupling effect, however coupling is not only desired but also enhanced and adjusted to increase array bandwidth in this new array. The equivalent circuit model of dipole array above a ground plane is discussed and its input impedance is also analyzed. The design feature of UWB tightly coupled array is discussed with the interweaved spiral array presented. FSS are designed in the tightly coupled antenna array to compose antenna-filter module, which can improve the array performance with a larger bandwidth.
