Abstract
Multi-channel multi-radio technology is considered as an efficient method to improve the performance of wireless networks, and routing protocol is always the key issue of wireless networks. In this paper, a multi-channel routing protocol for dual radio wireless networks is proposed, which is extended from the classical DSR routing protocol and named as Multi-Channel Dual Radio protocol (MCDR). A new routing criterion called WCETT-LB is defined and applied in MCDR, which does some improvements on WCETT and fully considers the factor of internal channel distribution among the adjacent paths, so it can assess channel conflict accurately. In addition, a load criterion L(P) is incorporated into WCETT-LB to reduce the network congestion. At last, the simulation results show that MCDR has greater performance on network throughput and average packets delay.
