Abstract :
SH surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) propagation in perfectly bonded piezoelectric/piezomagnetic structures loaded with viscoelastic layer has been investigated. Based on the three-dimensional piezoelectricity theory, the coupling wave equations have been obtained and solved by analytical method with consideration of both magnetoelectrically open and short conditions. The effects of viscoelasticity on the phase velocity and attenuation of the waves are analyzed and discussed in detail. From the results we can find that the effects of viscoelasticity on the properties of SH-SAW are remarkable, the phase velocity decreases with the viscous coefficient, the attenuation increases with the frequency. The analytical method and the results can be useful for the design of the biosensors and chemical sensors made of magnetoelectric materials for liquid application.
