Abstract :
Design and verification of CPU for teaching has been a hotspot of computer professional teaching. The simulation experiment is given priority to in the computer system structure and principle experiment course offered by the University at present and this is not conducive to students making the theory and the modern computer industry combination. To improve the quality of practice teaching for computer system structure and principle, a method of taking leon2 kernel as a design example is proposed and design of CPU for teaching based on SPARC V8 is researched. Leon2 kernel is broken down to independent functional modules from top to down, then a teaching experimental platform is build using EDA software provided by the company Mentor and SPE_C integrated development environment. Students who use the teaching experiment platform can do selfdetermined design based on Leon2 kernel modules. Finally, using FPGA and PC software to monitor and debug the designed CPU in order to verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the design.
