Abstract :
A wireless heterogeneous network with a mixed deployment of high power and low power wireless nodes has received tremendous attentions lately due to it great potentials in increasing network capacity and coverage as well as achieving energy saving. Mobile association is one of the key mechanisms to fully exploit the capacity and coverage benefits offered by a heterogeneous network. Meanwhile, there are growing demands of multimedia applications with stringent quality-of-service (QoS) requirements in the future wireless networks. By integrating effective capacity theory, an optimal mobile association framework for a heterogeneous relay network with statistical QoS guarantees is presented in this paper. We apply gradient search method to find the pseudo-optimal solution. Simulation results are provided and show the impacts of statistical QoS requirements on the performance of mobile association as well as the system capacity.
