Abstract :
Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is used to solve many engineering optimization problems. Parallel Particle Swarm Optimization (PPSO) is suitable for computationally demanding optimization problems. But it is yet to be applied in the parameters calculations of microstrip patch antenna. In this paper, a Parallel Particle Swarm Optimization technique in conjunction with the developed standard equation is applied to calculate accurate the resonant frequency of rectangular microstrip patch antenna of any dimension and of any substrate thickness. The results of PPSO are better than PSO and more close to experimental values. The technique developed in this paper seems to be a generalized soft computing tool to calculate parameters of microstrip antenna such as resonant frequency.
