  • Abstract
In this paper we present an approach of Installing, Configuring and Implementation of Session Initiation Protocol on Voice over IP Network. We will be integrating two different technologies (Cisco and Avaya) i.e. the Cisco based IP telephones on the Session manager infrastructure using SIP Protocol for achieving reliable and redundant solution over IP. PBX is a business telephone system designed to deliver voice or video over a data network and interoperate with the normal Public Switched Telephone Network. This helps enabling businesses to use their managed intranet and reduce long distance expenses with greater cost savings. We use SIP protocol standard which supports telephony as well as a wide range of other communication modes. We already owned Cisco SIP telephones other than those offered by Avaya and reused these Cisco telephones by integrating with Session manager, which is a SIP routing and integration process and the core component within the Enterprise solution. We also implemented Linux based feature server i.e. Communication manager to provide call related features, origination phases, termination phases or both when SIP enabled, registers with the Session Manager core. Lastly, with the help of Message Sequence Tracing methodology we achieve the desired results of SIP registration along with features on PBX using Session Manager and Communication Manager.
