  • Abstract
    A time difference of arrival (TDOA) accurate estimation algorithm in noise background was studied. Common TDOA estimation results are mostly integer times of sample interval, which will result in errors of measurement principle. In this paper, the time of arrival (TOA) estimation results based on Haar wavelet transform is taken as initial value firstly. Then, TDOA less than one sample interval is estimated by the TDOA accurate estimation algorithm based on phase calibration technique. A method of eliminating the outliers with multiple measuring is presented to eliminate the estimates with larger errors which are caused by phase ambiguity, and its application conditions are analyzed. Simulation results show that the estimation accuracy is close to the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) for TDOA estimation with proper signal to noise ratio (SNR).
