Abstract
The paper focuses on the issue of the modeling and management of Logistics Intermodal Systems (LIS) integrated by ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) tools. To this aim, we consider as a case study the port of Trieste (Italy) and we model the system in a Petri net framework. The port logistics and the truck traffic are described in different operative conditions characterized by different levels of ICT integration and information sharing between infrastructures and operators. Moreover, the system is simulated in the Matlab environment under different traffic scenarios and system capacity assumptions. The simulation results show that ICT have a huge potential for efficient real time management and operation of LIS.
