Abstract
The benefits of model based predictive control (MBPC) are the easy constraint handling, and the fact that complex processes can be controlled without much special precautions. The methodology received must interest in the chemical industry for the control of slow processes. In order to control processes with high bandwidth, a variable time interval is introduced. Together with a classical inner loop controller, the MBPC showed good results on a recent aircraft benchmark problem with various conflicting design specification and constraints.
