Abstract

Two fingerprints can be combined to improve the privacy of a fingerprint system. From the first fingerprint, the orientation is estimated and from the second one minutia points are found out. Some reference points from fingerprints are estimated. Then these all are used to form a combined template which is stored in database. . In the authentication, the system requires two query fingerprints from the same two fingers which are used in the enrollment. Using the combined minutiae template, the minutiae features of a single fingerprint pattern will not be compromised even if the database is stolen.
