Abstract :
To deal with the power quality problems in electrical railway networks, the Railway Power Quality Compensator system (RPQC) is used effectively in Traction Power supply Substation (TPS) to compensate Negative Sequence Currents (NSC), harmonics and reactive power simultaneously. In this paper, a compensation strategy with the aid of capacity reduction of RPQC in several consecutive TPS is proposed. This method is investigated through using of Yd5 and Yd11 transformers with multiple phase connections and using of the Steinmetz theory as the combinatorial compensation. It can reduce compensation system capacity and installation costs. The simulation results have been provided to prove the effectiveness of the proposed compensation strategy.
