Abstract
In this paper the structural properties of heterostructure photonic crystals (HPC) are used to achieve the reduced figure of cross talk in a photonic crystal switch. The heterostructure coupled waveguide is considered and its different structural properties are analyzed. The crystal elements of coupling region are modified to achieve the reduced cross talk up to -12.22 dB. The structural modification influences the coupling phenomenon of the switch. In this paper the dependency of structural modifications on the coupling characteristics is demonstrated through simulation. The simulation of waveguides is done on OptiFDTD8 software. Basically three cases are taken to show the dependency of structural modification on the coupling characteristics in HPC.
