Abstract
This paper presents a scientometric and text-based analysis of Computer Science (CS) research output from 100 most productive institutions from India. The CS research output during the last 25 years (1989-2013), in journals and conferences indexed in Scopus, is analyzed to identify the major research themes and their trends. The computational analysis involves text analysis algorithms based on identifying patterns, burst detection and frequency based techniques. The results obtained map the major research themes pursued by Indian institutions and also their temporal trends. A comparative analysis with 100 most productive institutions in CS research in world is also performed to make the results more meaningful and relevant. The paper presents novel and useful results for a wide audience ranging from research policy makers to students in the discipline.
