  • Abstract
This paper presents fluid manipulation using multiscale spiral-type magnetic machines with magnetic wireless operations. Magnetic spiral-type or helical machines have been widely used for biomedical applications. We considered two applications in the spiral-type magnetic machine: microfluid control (micromixer and micropump) and application for a pediatric blood pump. We investigated micropumping and mixing abilities by using the magnetic spiral machine (Φ 1.25 mm × 10 mm) in a silicone oil with a kinetic viscosity of 5 mm2/s. In addition, we confirmed the ability to apply these to a pediatric blood pump based on large machine (Φ 18 mm × 35 mm). The pump produced a flow rate of 1 to 3.5 L/min with a pressure rise of 40-60 mmHg.
