Welcome from General Chairs

It has been a great privilege to work in the last two years to shape the premiere international scientific conference in Biometrics. Even though relatively young, this conference series comes from the merging in 2006 of two highly reputed conferences: the Audio- and Video-based Personal Authentication (AVBPA) series, running since 1997, and the International Conference on Biometric Authentication (ICBA) series, running since 2004. Since then, this has been the flagship conference of the IAPR Technical Committee on Biometrics (TC4) who greatly helped in maintaining a very high scientific standard and making this conference always a great success. It always provided an ideal forum not only to expose recent research outcomes, but also to share and making new ideas blossoming. We hope that you will also enjoy Phuket as this year´s venue with a touch of the vibrant Thai history, culture and cuisine.
