Abstract
This paper investigates the implementation of fuzzy logic controller for shell and tube heat exchanger (STHE) using LabVIEW. The front panel in LabVIEW program displays the shell and tube heat exchanger process control as a graphical model and the logical part was designed in the block diagram section. The model consists of two modes, in automatic mode the controller tracks the set point on the predefined values but in the manual mode the user needs to define the desired range of temperature where also the controller acts prominently. The fuzzy controller design is based on linguistic rules implementation as the control strategy. The Fuzzy logic controller of the LabVIEW was designed with the logic to maintain constant temperature from the outlet of the heat exchanger. The simulation results obtained are compared with the conventional controller and the performance comparisons are outlined in this paper.
