Abstract
Magnetic nano-fluid have been widely studied for biological, medical, industrial applications. In these applications, magnetic field and fluid flow field problems usually coexist. For the nanoparticles have magnetic permeability and charge density on the surface, the magnetic force is coupled with the Lorentz force. Both the electromagnetic forces and the fluid field drive the particles to move, thus the concentration of particle is not uniformly distributed in the nano-fluid. In this paper, the magnetic force on the particles is calculated using the nodal force method and the Lorentz force is calculated taking into account the particles´ electrical double layer polarized by the external magnetic field.
