Abstract
DDoS is an attack which floods the server with the number of requests and as a result the server gets down. The purpose of every organization is to prevent the server from shutdown even in the presence of attacks. Our system helps by providing techniques, which are useful in preventing the server from shutdown. This can be done by using (i) Information metrics, which include the number of requests that can be processed simultaneously; (ii) IP traceback analysis, which helps in identifying the attacker and discarding the attack traffic. The paper focuses on the protection of server and reduces the loss to the organization.
