Abstract
This paper presents a low power CMOS impulse radio (IR) ultra-wide-band (UWB) transmitter with wide pulse rate variability for medical imaging. The proposed circuit is based on all digital architecture which generates pulse during high to low transition of input data bits. The simulated results have shown that the circuit can generate Gaussian mono-cycle pulses having pulse width of 120ps and peak to peak voltage of 396mV with pulse repetition rate of ranging from few MHz to 9.1GHz. The -10dB bandwidth was found 11.9GHz (3.1-15 GHz). The UWB transmitter was designed using IBM 130nm CMOS RF technology and simulated in HSpice RF. The simulated results are compared with other reported results.
