Abstract
This work presents an analytical approach to time window selection in smart distribution systems. Given a time-varying load forecast, implicit temporal load capability is used to determine when control actions are required in order to avoid constraint violations, and thus maintain static security. In this manner, time windows for control decisions are selected analytically. A solution algorithm and case study are presented with simulations on a 2055-bus power distribution system. Results show that static security is maintained during peak loading conditions, with and without photovoltaic injections.
