Abstract
This paper aims to investigate one important topic in Employee-Manager relationship (perceived ability in leader and trust in leader) based on a cross country analysis in Chinese and German companies. The purpose is to discuss whether culture difference has significant effect in building trust between employees and leaders. Based on Hofstede model (2010) and the results of interview researches, we build two culture types model. Furthermore, the empirical results imply that in German working environment, the higher employees perceived ability in leader is, the employees trust in leaders more. However, in China, there is no significant relationship between perceived ability in leader and trust in leader found. This paper fills the gap in researching perceived ability of leader and trust in leader in considering the culture dimension influences.
