Abstract
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is seen as a powerful ICT (Information and Communication Technology) paradigms nowadays. Empirical studies and literature review have revealed that the decision about adopting the SOA approach for a given business demand relies essentially on the ICT manager´s experience and knowledge, which increases even more the risks that can affect the SOA implementation life cycle phases. Besides that, SOA is actually not suitable for several business cases and types of applications. Therefore, ascends in significance a supporting method that helps ICT managers in the decision about when it is indeed more convenient opting for the SOA approach when developing a new solution for given customers or for restructuring existing software. This paper presents preliminary results of an ongoing research towards developing a more comprehensive method for that. This method assists ICT managers to go through a set of analysis points associated to every use case of a given software demand.
