Abstract
Ultra-intensive (soft) x-ray interaction with atoms is an active research field with the development of x-ray free-electron lasers such as the Linac Coherent Light Source [1]. Understanding the x-ray absorption mechanisms at a fundamental level is the basis of any further investigations and is essential for all types of applications.
